The history of St. Valentine's Day

February 14 is named for a Saint Valentine, who was a Roman priest in the time of Claudius II. When the emperor outlawed marriage for young soldiers – he felt that married men did not make good legionnaires - Valentine continued to perform marriages in secret. 

He was discovered and put to death, but while awaiting sentencing he is said to have fallen in love with his jailor’s daughter. His farewell message to her was signed, “From your Valentine.”

Once our flowers are in the shop, they're carefully stored in our coolroom until one of our team makes up the bouquets and arrangements you see in the shop. The girls love to experiment and explore their creativity with the arrangements, and they're always happy to make something up just for you.
